About Us
Who we are.
Imagine a health care system where patients enter an error-free environment and receive the best possible care. Caregivers deliver the right medications at the right times and the right dosage. Health care leaders organize systems that actually enable people to deliver the right care, safely. That’s the vision of the Washington Patient Safety Coalition, a non-profit, voluntary program of the Washington Foundation for Health Care Quality. The Coalition is dedicated to improving patient safety and reducing medical errors for individuals who receive care in Washington state.
What we do.
We collaborate with patient safety leaders across the state and the nation, sharing the latest developments and best practices that improve patient safety and reduce medical errors. More than 1,000 individuals have taken part in Coalition-sponsored events such as conferences and monthly conference calls that tackle various practical aspects of patient safety and medical error reduction. The Steering Committee provides strategic and operational leadership to the Coalition. Interest groups are formed by Coalition members committed to activities pertaining to key patient safety topics derived from the inaugural conference. Each group identifies, prioritizes and carries out a set of activities that improve patient safety. Funding for all activities is supported by annual fees paid by organizational and individual members.
There’s strength in numbers.
The more people who belong to the Coalition, the greater our collective effectiveness. Because we share information in a legally protected confidential setting, you can learn valuable information with your peers—ranging from mistakes to avoid, to new systems to apply. Improving safety and decreasing errors requires the active participation of a wide range of committed individuals and organizations. Your financial support is vital to the Coalition’s development, implementation and evaluation of effective activities.
We invite you to join us.
