Working to reduce medical errors and improve safety for people receiving health care in Washington.

Coalition Structure

The Foundation for Health Care Quality

The Foundation provides the organizational home for the Coalition, including staffing, facilitation, and technical support, and serves as fiscal agent for financial support and outlays.

The Washington Patient Safety Coalition

The Coalition is comprised of all parties committed to working in a collaborative, non-punitive manner to improve safety and reduce errors, consistent with the Guiding Principles. The initial membership of the Coalition is the participants at the Inaugural Conference, but is inclusive in nature and will continue to grow.

Steering Committee

The Steering Committee provides leadership and strategic planning for the Coalition, develops the statewide agenda, and provides guidance and coordination for the interest groups; its membership is comprised of representatives of the major interests and stakeholders in health care and patient safety. Subcommittees

The Subcommittees are populated by interested individuals and are chaired by members of the Steering Committee. Each group will identify, prioritize, and carry out a set of activities to improve patient safety in its domain, and is encouraged to work with other groups to increase synergy and effectiveness.

Current Subcommittees include Membership and Finance, Annual Conference Planning, and Medication Safety. Other workgroups are formed to focus on additional topics of interest, such as the Patient Safety Network, Medication Safety Network, and My Medicine List Campaign.
